UmmahAPI is free and does not sell data. This page explains exactly what is collected and why.
Last updated 11 October 2026The short version. We log basic technical information about API requests so the service stays online and is not abused. If you register for an API key we store your email address. The website uses analytics and shows charity campaign cards from LaunchGood. Nothing is sold, and we do not build profiles of individuals.
UmmahAPI is a free Islamic API operated from the United Kingdom and served at ummahapi.com. Questions about this policy can go to [email protected].
API requests. When your application calls the API we record the endpoint requested, the time of the request, the IP address it came from, and the user agent string. This is used to apply rate limits, detect abuse, and produce aggregate usage counts.
API key registration. If you request an API key we store the email address you provide and the key issued to you, so that we can attribute usage and contact you about service changes.
Website analytics. Pages on ummahapi.com use Google Analytics 4 and Vercel Analytics to count visits and understand which pages are used. This records information such as approximate location, device type, browser, and pages viewed.
Charity campaign cards. Some pages, and apps that use our campaign feed, show a card for a fundraising campaign on LaunchGood. We serve these cards ourselves. We count how many times each card is shown and clicked. For each click we record the time, the page or app it came from, the country, the device type, and a one-way hashed identifier that lets us tell a repeat click from a new visitor. LaunchGood sees these totals and breakdowns. It does not receive your IP address or anything that identifies you. If you click a card you leave for launchgood.com, which has its own privacy policy.
We do not ask for, and have no use for, your name, address, payment details, or date of birth.
The API itself sets no cookies. The website sets cookies through Google Analytics for visit measurement. You can block these in your browser settings or with any standard content blocker, and the site will continue to work normally.
Running the service means some data passes through third parties, each with their own privacy policy:
Request logs are kept in aggregate form for service monitoring and are not retained indefinitely at an individual level. API key records are kept for as long as the key is active. If you ask us to delete your key and the email attached to it, we will.
If you are in the UK or the EU you have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected, and to have it deleted. In practice the only personal data we are likely to hold is an email address attached to an API key. Email [email protected] and we will action it.
UmmahAPI is a developer tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Material changes will be noted on the site.
